Advertising at its Worst?
How does a small mattress company in California rack up over 3 million views of their advert on YouTube? Gary’s Mattress has struck YouTube gold for all the wrong reasons with possibly the most un-P.C advert in history. What to mock first…his poor reading of cue cards, the bad copy or the racist, costume-clad moments?
If you haven’t seen this then it’s definitely worth a watch:
Festive Cheer is Measured in Cups
I’m sure the feminists out there will have a field day with this Christmas advert from La Senza. Seven ladies a-lying on beds in their undies is far from festive but have them ooh and ahh, gyrating along to a Christmas carol and then Yuletide cheer no doubt abounds!
Watch the video here…stick it out past the 47 second mark for a laugh…
Skittles New Advert is Electrifying
This is a strange ad…Skittles -- a more pleasant way to get your oral thrills. That is as compared to getting a static shock to the tongue from a giant sock-man.
IKEA Creates Interactive Billboards
You have to admire Ikea (or their agencies at least) for consistently coming up with eyecatching campaigns. While in the UK, Ikea has attracted attention after filming cats running wild in a store, in Vienna the brand has now come up with a clever outdoor campaign.
To promote their Pax line of wardrobe doors Ikea installed modified billboards at touching distance from the footpath. Pedestrians curiosity was piqued as they moved sliding doors on the display to reveal two different wardrobe interiors, depending on which side of the closet was open. The tagline on the ad states: “For every situation, IKEA has a solution.”
A simple way to convert billboards from street wallpaper to something much more attention grabbing. Here’s a video which shows the ads and people’s reaction to them:
Japanese TV Must Come with a Health Warning
I came across this crazy Japanese advert over on the Copyranter blog…it’s completely bizarre. I’d love to have been a fly on the wall when the ad agency were pitching this to the client and explaining the rationale as it’s completely escaped me!
A prize for the person who can explain it to me!
